On January 31, 2026, Tanzania's Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism presented the first-ever Serengeti Awards, a new national initiative designed to recognise excellence, innovation, and a commitment to sustainability within the country's tourism sector. Among the inaugural recipients, Altezza Travel was named Best Tour Operator in the Northern Tourism Zone, an outcome that reflects the company's sustained performance across Kilimanjaro expeditions, wildlife safaris, and responsible tourism practices.

The Serengeti Awards represent a significant step for Tanzania's tourism industry. By establishing formal government-backed benchmarks for quality and ethical conduct, the Ministry is raising the standard for all operators working within the country's national parks and protected areas. Being among the first winners of such a distinction carries particular weight: it sets a precedent and places Altezza Travel alongside the companies that will define what responsible Tanzanian tourism looks like in the years ahead.

The award crowns what was, by any measure, an exceptional year for Altezza Travel. In 2025, the company became the first tour operator in Tanzania to simultaneously hold both B Corp and Travelife certifications – two of the most rigorous sustainability standards in the travel industry globally. It was also recognised as the largest taxpayer in the Kilimanjaro region, underscoring its role not just as a tourism business but as a meaningful contributor to local development and conservation.
